Deep dive into map-specific strategies
CS2's competitive map pool consists of 7 maps, with each team typically having 2-3 strong maps, 2-3 permabans, and 1-2 maps they can play but don't prefer. Analyzing these pools reveals predictable pick/ban patterns and helps identify where teams have advantages.
In Bo3 matches, the pick/ban typically goes: Team A ban, Team B ban, Team A pick, Team B pick, bans, decider. Teams usually pick their strongest map and ban their worst. Understanding likely outcomes helps predict which maps will be played before the match starts.
Each map plays differently with unique side balances and round patterns. Current meta stats: Nuke (~55% CT), Vertigo (~53% CT), Ancient (~50%), Mirage (~50%), Inferno (~51% CT), Anubis (~50%), Overpass (~50%). These averages vary significantly by team skill and playstyle.
Some teams excel on specific maps regardless of overall rankings. A lower-ranked team might have 75% win rate on their best map against top competition. These map-specific edges often aren't fully reflected in overall match odds, creating value opportunities.
Beyond map winners, you can bet on: map handicaps (team -1.5/+1.5 maps), exact score (2-0, 2-1), map totals (over/under 2.5 maps), and individual map outcomes. Map markets often offer better value than match winner because they require more specific analysis.
